The PPW Tools Panel comprises 16 complex, user-alterable scripts that are organized logically in a panel. Now in its fourth release, it's used as color correction command central by tens of thousands of professionals worldwide.

The panel, introduced in 2011, has tens of thousands of users worldwide. It is now in its fourth major release, each of which has added major options and features.

Today’s panel offers:

✔ LAB-based color enhancers to bring any picture, no matter how bland, to life.

✔ A revolutionary method of separating the most important colors from one another, based on an “advisory” selection by the user that is not applied to the correction itself but that serves as a strategy guide.

✔ An incredibly powerful and configurable sharpening action, comprising nearly 150 Photoshop steps, applying five different sharpening styles in one pass, each method with its own custom mask to eliminate common problems. All sharpening is done in the form of halo maps that the user can easily erase, enhance, or modify. Also, the user may alter or color-correct any layers beneath the sharpening halos, without disturbing the sharpen.

✔ Users can define and save multiple sharpening presets for various categories of image. The action can be configured to adjust halo size automatically based on the size of the file.

✔ Three distinct “Hammer” actions designed to bring out detail in highlight and shadow areas; the two introduced in v.4 are particularly useful with fleshtones.

✔ Two distinct actions to darken blue areas of skies.

✔ An action to darken and/or desaturate near-neutrals, deepening the image while emphasizing more strongly colored areas.

✔ Two false-profile actions to bring lighter and darker areas of the image closer together; the script senses the user’s existing profile and substitutes an appropriate one.

✔ Separate PDF guides to each action, accessible from within the panel.

✔ A 17-page on-board summary of the Picture Postcard Workflow.

✔ An invaluable on-board aid: a color guide, listing recommended LAB values for various common objects.

✔ All actions are scripted and seen as a single history state. They can be cancelled with a Command-Z/Ctrl-Z, and they will not flush the history log.

✔ Most actions have user-definable options, some quite extensive, that can be used case-by-case or as new panel defaults.

✔ Allows the use of the traditional Photoshop curves dialog on adjustment layers.

✔ Some actions can be executed also from the Filter menu or from the Scripts menu.
